This work stages a deliberate confrontation with Western art history. The grayscale corridor of canonical masterpieces represents the long‑standing exclusion of Black creators and subjects from the “old masters” narrative. In contrast, the foreground figures — sharply dressed Black men rendered in prismatic color — assert a new lineage. The lightning‑like chromatic lines function as temporal conduits, connecting past and future while challenging the assumption that mastery is a closed inheritance. The painting becomes both critique and reclamation: a visual argument for expanding the canon itself.
