This blog exists because most of my work has an emotional story behind it. I don't often put paint on a canvas and walk away as I live through something of a saga to get it there. The reason for this is, in part, my need to be creative from conception to the finished canvas, but also due to decisions. Choosing one thing when I know a thousand things are available is a bug-a-boo for me, and this has everything to do with my 'wiring,' which I will touch on throughout the site. Meanwhile, I will use this blog to share background stories and secret not-so-secret meanings pertinent to my journey in creating art.

likely, you will notice that my work doesn't stick to one style. There are days when my work is hyper-detailed, days when it is pure abstract chaos, and other days that are somewhere in between. There's a reason for this: There are at least five different people in my head at all times (not literally), and I am all of them.

I am a neurodiverse artist. My brain is wired 'different'. "Consistent branding" is not within my realm of possibility, as I tend to hyper-focus, make sudden pivots, and experience extreme emotional shifts. Painting in one style feels constrictive, like wearing shoes that are three sizes too small. That's because my art reflects how my brain processes the world—sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, and quite like a hummingbird in a garden of yummy blossoms, darting from one luscious bloom to another, sipping and tasting, always moving. Before I knew this about myself, I was in the habit of chastising these constant shifts, which greatly impacted my art. I left canvases unfinished by the truckload. Now that I know that I am 'wired' differently, unfinished work (still have a truckload) is just that. I don't have to beat myself up and question my ability to create something beautiful and meaningful.
